DIRECTIONS
BY CAR
Two hours by car, or the same amount of time by Long Island Railroad, will transport you to Bayshore on Long Island’s South Shore, at which point your ferry will take you to your magical retreat on Fire Island.
At the main dock, which serves Ocean Beach, Ocean Bay Park, Seaview, Kismet, Atlantique/Dunewood, Saltaire and Fair Harbor, you can pass the time at Nicky's Clam Bar, a fishing town bar and restaurant within 50 feet of the ferry – great soup! There's also the Just Barge In ice cream shop and convenience store.
Fire Island is a short drive from the Metropolitan New York area. Follow our driving directions or for door-to-door directions, use google maps (enter 99 Maple Ave., Bay Shore, NY)
Take the Cross Island Parkway / Eastern L.I. for 3.9 miles to Exit 29E
Continue on Grand Central Parkway (exit only) for 8.1 miles to Exit 31A
Continue on Meadow Brook Parkway / Jones Beach for 5.8 miles to Exit M6E
Continue on Southern State Parkway / Eastern Long Island for 16 miles to Exit 40
Continue on Robert Moses Causeway / Ocean Beaches for 2.8 miles to Exit RM 2E
Continue on Route 27A / Bay Shore for 2.9 miles to 4th Traffic L
Continue on Maple Avenue (right turn / south) for 0.4 miles to Fire Island Ferry Terminal (left turn)
You can park at the Bayshore Train Station for free. Parking costs $7 Monday-Thursday, $14 Friday-Sunday and holiday. A full week costs $65 and a full weekend will run you $41. Cash only.
BY TAXI

BY AIR
Air transportation and a spectacular view of the City is now available through ExcelAire. ExcelAire floatplanes, also referred to as seaplanes, depart from Manhattan at the 23rd Street Skyport located on the East River.
The seaplane can accommodate up to three adults. Flights are arranged at your convenience, but ExcelAire suggests that reservations be made a minimum of three days in advance, especially on weekends.
The amphibious floatplanes are capable of landing at any of the major airports, Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark as well as the Great South Bay. Maximizes time at the office and the beach, skip the traffic and have a great view.
The Town of Islip's Long Island MacArthur Airport is eight miles from Bay Shore.

BY FERRY
Ferry costs depend on age and length of trip. See below:
Adult: $8 one way (except 1 a.m. boat), $15 round-trip, $15 one-way at 1 a.m. ($10 extra if you already have return ticket).
Child: $4 one way, $7 round-trip.
Seniors and handicapped: $6 each way with Suffolk County ID card.

BY TRAIN
From PENN STATION take the LIRR (Babylon Line, a one hour ride for $11) to BAY SHORE. The station in Bay Shore is about 1 mile from the ferry. After arriving in Bay Shore take one of the local taxi services (Tommy’s or David’s). It's a $3 ride to the terminal. If you prefer you can walk to the ferry, it’s a easy 15 minute walk.
